NEFERTITI LAWRENCE
VICE PRESIDENT
Nefertiti Lawrence is a resident and property owner who resides in Roxbury. She has been proud to call Roxbury her home for the past 23 years. She is an accomplished teacher who enjoys using her skills to contribute to the educational experience of her students.
Nefertiti is a Boston College double eagle with both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in developmental and educational psychology. She also completed a graduate Math for Teaching certification program at Harvard University. Nefertiti’s work is rooted in the belief that a great education is foundational to life success.
Ms. Lawrence’s passion for teaching began over 20 years, along with working and developing future and current math teachers. Not only has she shaped her students in the classroom but future teachers from colleges, universities and the Boston Public Schools. She mentored several graduate students from Harvard University School of Education, Emmanuel College and MIT. In a lead math teacher role, Nefertiti worked closely with her principal advisor to provide meaningful professional development for fellow math teachers. She served as a district mentor to the Boston Public School first year teachers and used her knowledge and passion to help first year teachers launch into amazing careers.
Nefertiti uses her professional teaching, mentoring and coaching experience to foster a better understanding of the ways in which we can use assessments to enhance students' understanding. In her spare time, Nefertiti enjoys applying mathematical ideas to home design projects.
Nefertiti is an active member of her community. She is a committee member on the Roxbury Strategic Oversight Committee. She is a Garrison-Trotter Neighborhood Association board member as well. Community and the quality of life for her neighbors are of the utmost importance to her and she is a fierce advocate.
